Some Thoughts

-
*There are so many details with which we concern ourselves in our daily lives, but how many of them are truly important?  It's my position that most of these details people attend to are superficial, yet simultaneously, there is no detail that is not potentially life-altering.

*Nothing is truly insignificant, yet everything is insignificant*

*Truth
*Every action, as mundane as it may be, to be done with a purpose of love and sacrifice
*Consideration of others; and acknowledging it in others when you see it (because as rare as it is, it does still exist)

Summer 2016

Yes, summer is certainly encroaching upon us; the last cool days are likely leaving the Phoenix metro area. And children will be leaving school shortly, but parents still have to work and yes, the teachers work quite a lot over the summer too. Their schedule is just a bit more flexible. But what you are going to do this summer? Do you have plans to travel anywhere, even if for a short time? What are your children going to do this summer? I advocate spending as much family time together as possible, with it being good quality time. Ditch the phones, TVs, and video games, and take a day trip up north where we do have cooler temperatures. Enroll your kids in activities that will enrich their development and stimulate their brains to build new pathways. Be wary, however, of enrolling them in too many. They need to be at home, with family (if not parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, or older siblings), relaxing and taking it easy. (which does not involve constant phones etc). We need

Back to School in Arizona

If your child's school hasn't begun yet, it will soon. Everybody's back to school, even the colleges. My first course at ASU starts the 26th; it's Choral Union. I look forward to an even more fabulous season. I haven't been up to too much this summer--just a good bit of writing, the gym, business, survival, some fun sprinkled here and there. The writing has become quite important to me, and I realize that yes, I am indeed writing a book. I never thought I might write a book, but it's happening and it is exciting. The fun part is the reviews and critiques as I go. So, never be afraid to learn something, to try something new. Who knows where it will take you. Just put one foot in front of the other and "keep on keeping on."

Splicing Hairs?

Six months. I've neglected my websites, that's for sure. For anyone who cares, I just wrote a splice in that last sentence. It's not commonly correct in English grammar, but I've learned that there are justifiable instances to use one. So I did, without really thinking about it. Google " comma splice " if you want to know more. You can come back and tell me whether you think my example qualifies as a justifiable instance. Splicing and splitting. People figuratively speak of splitting hairs; do we ever speak of splicing them? What would that mean? Well, we all know that to split hairs means to break something down to the finest details, beyond the useful details to the useless. Since splicing deals with joining or uniting, particularly the fibers of a rope, splicing hairs makes a lot of sense. I don't know how meaningful it could be figuratively.
